Getting on board public transport in Nottingham just got even easier

Nottingham City Council is making it even easier to get on board public transport by introducing over 140 Payzone retail outlets in and around the city.

This is the latest phase of a £1.5m Citycard retail network which will include ticket machines, Payzone outlets and an online portal.

The introduction of Payzone outlets, now available throughout the conurbation, closely follows on from the installation of Citycard ticket machines across the city centre.

To continue making it faster, easier and more cost effective to buy and top up tickets for journeys in and around the city, Nottingham City Council has launched the Payzone outlets in partnership with Payzone.  Customers with Citycards can top up with season Kangaroo travel at over 140 stores in and around the city, such as local newsagents and supermarkets.
Citycard season tickets are available to buy from Payzone outlets for one, three, six, and 12 month periods.

Ten day travel cards will also be available to buy from Payzone outlets later in the year. The ten day tickets can currently be bought from one of the new ticket machines in the city centre or from Broadmarsh and Victoria travel centres. One day tickets continue to be available to buy on buses and trains and are now available from on platform tram ticket machines.
All Citycard customers need to do to top up is visit one of the Payzone outlets, which are identified by the pink Payzone sign above the shop, and then use either cash or card to buy a top up from over the counter. If customers do not own a Citycard then they can get one from the Broadmarsh or Victoria Travel Centres.

Councillor Jane Urquhart, Nottingham City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Planning and Transport, said: “These continued Citycard improvements will make travelling by public transport in Nottingham even better. Increasing the number of ways people can pay for their travel should make public transport more appealing for even more people.
“The Payzone retail outlets will complement our recently installed ticket machines, which along with existing ticketing systems for trains, trams and buses, provides a wide range of convenient ways to buy travel tickets across Greater Nottingham. Overall, these new developments will help to consolidate Nottingham’s integrated public transport network as among the best in Europe.”
